Perennials are plants that grow back or bloom every year. Many types of perennials can live more than three years in the garden. Perennials differ in shape, color and size.
Alpines are generally native to rocky soils and sunny locations. But are equally suited to the front of the border or planters.
Shrubs add shape and structure to gardens, in addition to their fragrant flowers, berries, autumn colour, foliage and coloured stems. Although shrubs are varied and numerous, most are easy to grow and can be planted, fed, watered and pruned in similar ways.
Grasses add height, colour and texture to beds and borders. They complement shrubs and other herbaceous perennials in many ways.
